Frederique Tremblay, BASc.,M.C. | Behaviour Consultant/Counselor

Hello! My name is Frederique (Freddy).

I am a former athlete, now working as a Canadian Certified Counsellor at Key Connections Consulting. Throughout my athletic career, I have experienced so many great moments, and have also battled through tough expectations, competition, and transitions.

The transition out of sport was one that was so hard for me.

What I have learned in this transition, is that I am not the only one who struggled through that time. As humans, we are wired for connection and seek belonging. We seek this through identifying a group, club, sport, hobby, etc.

For me, my identity was rooted in sports and I identified as an: “athlete”, “rugby player”, “teammate”, “captain”, student-athlete”, “coach”. When sports were no longer part of my day-to-day life, I struggled to figure out who I was as an individual outside of my athlete identity.

Being an athlete gifted me many strong assets and skills that have transpired into my professional life as a counsellor.

In my own journey leaving sports, I have also discovered many aspects of the athlete mindset that impeded my ability to be my true, authentic self.

In working with me, whether you are a current athlete, a recovering athlete after sports, a coach, or a parent supporting an athlete, we will work together to achieve your goals.

Seeing a counsellor during performance can help you understand areas that cause stress and how you can use tools to feel better about your performance.

When doing “the work” to figure out who we are at our core, we can recognize the true strengths that we can use in and out of athletics.

Identifying as an athlete is only one puzzle piece in life, and figuring out how to find the other pieces makes your journey beautiful.

Athletes who focus on other puzzle pieces find it easier to enjoy their sport when they are able to find balance and listen to their bodies, feelings, and reflect on their experiences that bring them true joy.

I look forward to meeting with you and being a part of your journey.
